Pelvic floor therapy is aimed at helping patients with pelvic pain, urinary and bowel incontinence, constipation, abdominal pain, low back pain, sexual dysfunction, as well as those prior to or after having pelvic surgery.
How we treat
The tissues surrounding the pelvic organs may have increased or decreased sensitivity and/or irritation resulting in pelvic pain. Many times, the underlying cause of pelvic pain is difficult to determine.
We encourage treatment to be multidisciplinary and holistic. External and internal manual therapy includes myofascial release and trigger point release, visceral manipulation, connective tissue manipulation and craniosacral therapy- Another method used is biofeedback, electrical stimulation, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). This treatment also includes cold laser, heat and cold therapy.
